托福写作论证素材——个人篇

培森教育托福写作教研组的老师们在日常教学中发现学生在写作过程中普遍存在的问题就是：论证过程中缺乏有理有据的论证素材。学生在举例说明时只能临时编一些例子，写完连自己都觉得说服不了，又如何能说服阅文、火眼金睛的考官呢？在此我们特别按话题类别整理了一些论证素材，希望同学们能在平时习作或时灵活运用。

1、创新很重要

If we project what the world will be like 10 years from now without additional breakthroughs in health, energy, and food, the picture is quite dark. People in poor countries will continue to die from preventable diseases, energy costs will escalate, and the world's population will overwhelm the land available for farming. But innovations will allow us to avoid these bleak outcomes, improving lives in the U.S. and around the world. With better access to vaccines and drugs, health in poor countries will continue to improve. With better seeds, training, and access to markets, farmers in poor countries will grow more food. With a clean way to produce cheap electricity, we will reduce emissions and avert the worst effects of climate change.

未来10年里，如果在健康、能源和粮食方面没有的话，那么我们的未来将会是漆黑一片。贫穷的人民还会继续死于可以预防的疾病，能源价格将会逐步上涨，的人口将要把耕地完全侵占掉。但是创新将会使我们避免这些暗淡的前景，创新将会美国人民以及全人民的生活。当获取疫苗和药品变得更方便的时候，贫穷的健康水平将会继续。贫穷的农民在获得更好的种子、培训以及农产品市场后，他们会生生产出更多的粮食。通过采用清洁的方式来获得廉价的电能，我们将会减少二氧化碳的排放，从而阻止气候变暖带来的严重的影响。

Another crucial innovation in education involves using interactive technology to deliver high-quality materials for teachers and students. Now that watching videos is a standard part of the Internet experience, we can put great lectures online so that everyone can benefit from the best teachers. (Personally, I like the online physics and chemistry courses from MIT.) Alternatively, software can also be used to tailor lessons to individual students, so kids can stop spending time on the things they already know and focus on the areas they are confused about. While it won't replac face-to-face teaching, it could make remedial courses far more effective—helping students move on to the next phase of their education instead of discouraging them into dropping out. That's the kind of innovation that can lead to a brighter future for everyone.

教育中另外一个关键的创新包括使用互动式的技术为老师和学生提供高质量的素材。既然在网上观看视频是家常便饭的事，那么我们可以把的授课视频放到网上，这样每个人都可以从好的老师那里获益。（对我个人来说，我喜欢MIT的物理和化学在线课程。）另外，可以使用软件来对课程进行调整，以适合不同学生的需要，这样孩子们在已经学会的课程上就可以不用花时间了，而是把时间集中在他们不清楚的地方。虽然互动式技术不会取代面对面的教学，但是这种技术能使的高很多—帮助学生进入到适合他们的下一个学习层次，而不是使他们灰心丧气地辍学。这就是能让每个人拥有更加光明的未来的教育创新。

2、Follow your passion in college. Take courses you think you will enjoy. Don’t be trapped in what others think or say. Steve Jobs says when you are in college, your passion will create many dots, and later in your life you will connect them. In his great speech given at Stanford commencement , he gave the great example where he took calligraphy, and a decade later, it became the basis of the beautiful Macintosh fonts, which later ignited desktop publishing, and brought wonderful tools like Microsoft Word to our lives. His expedition into calligraphy was a dot, and the Macintosh became the connecting line. So don’t worry too much about what job you will have, and don’t be too utilitarian, and if you like Japanese or Korean, go for it, even if your dad thinks “it’s not useful.” ：） Enjoy picking your dots, and be assured one day you will find your calling, and connect a beautiful curve through the dots.

在里你要追随自己的激情和兴趣，选你感兴趣的课程，不要困扰于别人怎么说或怎么想。史蒂夫乔布斯曾经说过，在里你的热情会创造出很多点，在你随后的生命中你会把这些点串联起来。在他的斯坦福毕业典礼演讲中，他举了一个很好的例子：他在里修了看似毫无用处的书法，而十年后，这成了苹果Macintosh里漂亮字库的基础，而因为Macintosh有这么好的字库，才带来了桌面出版和今天的办公软件（例如微软Office）。他对书法的探索就是一个点，而苹果Macintosh把多个点联结成了一条线。所以不要太担心将来你要做什么样的工作，也不要太急功近利。假如你喜欢日语或韩语，就去学吧，尽管你的爸爸曾说过那没什么用：）尽兴地选择你的点吧，要有信念有机缘来临时，你会找到自己的人生使命，画出一条美丽的曲线。（李开复给女儿的一封信）
